Human Examples

Conflicts and challenges in Act 1 & 2 will explore the ethical and moral foundations at the human level, acting as a teaching mechanism for understanding Nuclear policies debated in Act 3. For example: Elevated tensions between many cultures and backgrounds folding into each other in the refugee camps create an opportunity to explore and debate the rationale for needing checks and balances when emotions and tensions are high; thus priming our audience to the debate that our President should also be checked when attempting to use a Nuclear weapon.

The West Coast

A hellscape and the raw realities of war and nuclear damage. Bleak, sad, and unforgiving. Characters will not go through unscathed; lost loved ones, friends, and pain riddle the journey to get past the Rockies. Our characters need to flee and get through the mountains. With infrastructure shattered and such a large national disaster, our backdrop becomes a scrappy caravan of survival with few resources and natural and unnatural challenges along the way.

The Hill

Pristine and untouched. A visual representation of the disconnect between the Hill and America becomes visually stunning as we return to manicured lawns, suits, and lush dinners while those in power and influence debate the next steps.

Midwest and the trail East

The heartland of America becomes an oasis, but also the frontlines of us facing a new reality. West Coast survivors move into middle America, which does all it can to give support, opening homes, farms, and hearts to these new migrants. However, the volume will test the limits of this hospitality. Imagine martial law has been declared. The Midwest, beyond the Rockies, is filled with refugees. There are food shortages and a crackdown on rights.

International Background

The international landscape will appear in news updates and mentions. Our story will remain in America, and short of a few moments across the oceans the story stays focused on the impact within the United States. The news that trickles over from afar becomes whispers and rumors filtered through propaganda and an agenda to protect US interests.

Cognitive Dissonance

Plot lines have different takes on the same events. What is seen as defensive by one is seen as offensive by the other. Is it offensive or defensive? Is it right or is it wrong?

Fake News

Misinformation is rife in a media-saturated environment, making it even harder to uncover the truth. The viewer has more information than any character.
